| Tour operators,
transport agents, travel agents and hoteliers from all around the
world will be in Havana to attend Cuba’s 26th International
Travel Fair that will this time around be held on the island nation’s
central region.

A The historic Morro-Cabaña Park
in the Cuban capital will be home to the 26th edition of Cuba’s
International Travel Fair (FITCUBA 2006), a three-day event aimed
at sharing marketing and technical information, with a couple of days
reserved for a grand tour around central Cuba.
The largest marketplace of Cuban tourism will gather tour operators,
travel agents, airline execs, hoteliers and industry experts from
Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. These five days –from
May 10 through 14- will foster the exchange of views and ideas between
Cuban and foreign professionals about the present and future of the
hospitality industry, and will provide a firsthand look at what the
Cuban destination has to offer.
In addition, FITCUBA 2006 will help promote products offered by the
local tourism industry and beef up steady commercial ties built on
in some of the major international tourism fairs held since April
this year.
The agenda of Technical Sessions will include master lectures and
presentations of travel circuits, hotel groups and new products that
highlight the progress the island nation has made. Major airlines
like Aerovaribbean, hooking up a multitude of Caribbean travel destinations
with one another, will attend the Fair.
In this respect, attending professionals will take a closer look at
the new potentials Cuba has in store, not only from its world-class
sun-and-sand offerings, but also in a number of added values such
as the MICE segment, the newly-built hotels and the extra-hotel services.
The star of this year’s tradeshow will be central Cuba: Cienfuegos,
Villa Clara and Trinidad, a trio of hospitable cities teeming with
rich heritage and larger-than-life traditions that provide cultural,
historic, natural and nautical products, among other allures.
On the other hand, FITCUBA 2006 will rivet its attention on the promotion
and marketing of two major travel destinations: Havana and Varadero
–the latter is the island nation’s most emblematic beach
circuit.
The fair will come back to the Morro-Cabaña Park, last year’s
venue, that gives visitors the possibility of showcasing the charms
of Havana, by far Cuba’s top travel destination and a city brimming
with historic and cultural heritage marked by countless museums, art
galleries, theaters and a dazzling nightlife.
This travel destination of western Cuba is also the heart of the country’s
cultural life and is outfitted with an array of comfy hotels and a
huge mesh of recreational centers, restaurants and eateries.
Besides the promotion of these travel destinations out of Cuba, the
event will be the perfect setting to advertise the island’s
nautical offer, a recreational and sport-oriented segment in which
Cuba has a lot to brag about, especially based on a vast network of
maritime facilities and nautical clubs in all major travel circuits
around the country.
There’s no doubt the 26th International Travel Fair in Cuba
will mark a new steppingstone for the Cuban Destination’s successful
and fast-paced development, an industry that’s constantly diversifying
and buttressing itself as a way to uphold the island nation’s
successful strategy for the advance of its leisure industry.
